The diagram and photos will help you to work out exactly where to measure. Record your measurements in the measurement form provided. All measurements should be in cm.
Please take your measurements very carefully! Our bootmaker works very hard to make sure that your boots will fit you - but he can only do this if your measurements are correct. It is a good idea to take each measurement twice, just to double check.
If you’re not sure about taking the measurements, give us a call. We’re happy to help.
Foot measurements
Ask someone to help you to take your measurements so you can stand up straight.
For measurement a) Length of foot on the measurement form:
Place your biggest bare foot (usually the right one) on a piece of paper, and ask your helper to trace around your foot carefully, making sure to hold the pencil or pen straight and not at an angle. Measure the tracing from the tip of the toe to the heel.
For measurement b) Around base of toes on the measurement form, ask your helper to measure right around your foot at its widest point (at the base of the toes).
For measurement c) Around arch of foot on the measurement form, measure right around your foot at its highest point (at the arch of the foot).
For measurement d) Back of heel around ankle on the measurement form, ask your helper to put the tape measure under your heel at the back of your foot, then loop it over your ankle and back down to the start.
Calf measurements
For the calf measurements you also need someone to help because you need to stand up and have your leg straight. It may help if they mark your leg with a pen at the various measurement points.
Measurement e) Measure the length from the side of your heel (at ground level), up your calf, to where you would like the top of the boots to come (ie below your knee for knee-length boots, lower down for shorter boots).
Measurement f) Measure around your calf at the ‘top of boot’ point.
Measurement g) Measure around your calf 5 cm below the top of boot point, and then every 5 cm going down your leg towards your ankle. It makes it easier if your helper marks your leg with a pen at the points to be measured.
As a guide – if your boots are 40 cm high, there should be at least five calf measurements between the top of boot measurement and the ankle measurement.
Measurement h) The final measurement should be around the ankle, making sure that the tape measure goes over the ankle bone.

Please let us know by email or phone if there are any special requirements for your boots. For example, you might need a higher (built up) sole on one boot.
